Compacted Graphite Iron (CGI)
PACCAR was the first engine manufacturer to utilize CGI in both the block and cylinder head of a heavy-duty diesel engine. CGI commands stronger adhesion between the graphite and the iron giving the MX-13 engine greater tensile strength and superior thermal resistance.
Two belts separate the fan from the coolant pump, alternator, and A/C compressor. The belt prensioners maintain an accurate tension for excellent reliability and extended product life.
A dynamically balanced camshaft made of high strength steel reduces the MX-13 engine's overall weight and complexity. The single camshaft also helps to dramatically reduce engine noise.
